| Introduction | Hi I'm Origami Kankichi. I was born and raised in Japan, and moved to west-coast of Canada in mid 1990's. Like most of the J-immigrants would, I realized my Nihonjin-rashisa (= Japanese-ness) by living outside of my home country after years. As well as karate, I started to learn more about 'origami folding' about 10 years ago. The time to fold papers calms me right down and helps me meditate when a stress is about to ruin the day. I am proud to know most of the basic folding methods to start from. By using those fundamental knowledge, I could gradually develop my own designs of kusudama paper ball art. I wish to reach out as many people as possible via kusudama community and keep promoting the beautiful culture of origami to the world. |
