We discuss them, their authors, and whatever else Johprah™ tangentially associates with it. What do you win? Look: If you don't think the excitement of finding a new novel that feels transformative personally and disturbingly real and would be a total shite "beach read". Johprah™ selections, rather, are ALWAYS something critics or hipsters or the book Nazi at your neighborhood shop or teachers at that expensive school never told you about. They were busy trying to make it through Ulysses for the ninth time so they didn't have to lie anymore (on to Infinite Jest next... ) Every selection meets serious standards - Johprah™ has to love it unabashedly. Johprah™ ihad a dope problem. Got substituted for a book addiction. Johprah™ must face himself and choose. No "riveting memoir by someone who didn't write a book first". Each will break your heart or show you that hope is often just seeing the beauty in weeds in the cracks of sidewalks. It's like a brief jaunt through a piece of John Murry's twisting, knotting quest for meaning. |
