Introduction	My medical career and experience began when I founded and ran a Gasterenterology practice and helped thousands of patients over a career spanning decades. While in practice, I began to write patient education articles in the field of gastroenterology including many on diets, diseases, drugs and procedures. All of this material - over 1,000 pages - was placed on my practice web site at gicare.com and became one of the most popular and frequently visited medical practice web sites on the internet. I then retired. But it continued to nag at me that I still had so much more to say. In other words, I found retirement a complete failure! I found myself researching more and more into the food fiber and prebiotics fields and the increase in GI diseases of Western civilization - diverticulosis, irritable bowel syndrome, Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis and colon polyps and cancer. So, I decided to bring the field of prebiotics to the public, using this blog along with my website JacksonGI.com.
