Introduction	I came to Japan woefully unprepared in 1988 as an exchange student. I had a relatively narrow view of the world despite a liberal arts education from Gustavus Adolphus college. Now, 20 years later, I work for a software company (DataCore Software) as VP of Asia and live in San Francisco. I've lived in Tokyo off and on for many years, and still come here about every other month, as well as countries all over Asia. One of my greatest joys whenever I'm traveling is exploring local food and restaurants.
