| Introduction | Profane (Michael R. Davidson) is a graduate of Bates College who lettered in Nordic Skiing, received his Ph.D. in Medieval History from the School of History and Classics at the University of Edinburgh, and has taught at Bates College, Newberry College, and SIU Carbondale.
