| Introduction | Hemera is a photography curating collective of five photography historians and theorists with a diverse range of photographic research interests. While most curators and collectives want to look only to the future, Hemera strives to link the past with the present by working not only with contemporary photography but by rebuilding the past; researching and championing work that might otherwise be lost within archives. Hemera seeks to inspire curiosity and promote the understanding of photography by exhibiting and interpreting works of outstanding quality and historical importance. Our collaborative approach brings together strong curatorial skills and a critical awareness of the medium in a broad context. We aim to work to the highest professional standards and to utilise our relevant research experience to develop exhibitions that engage and educate audiences by bringing new insights into our historic past in relation to, and through the exploration of, contemporary photographic issues. |
