| Introduction | As a junior in high school I started Iorio Italian Ice, a company that sells a creamy, dairy-free product in the mid-Michigan area. I performed independent research on the voluntary carbon market with Andrew Hoffman, Professor of Sustainable Enterprise. My final project, "Voluntary Carbon Confusion: A Consumer's Guide to Purchasing Carbon Offsets" is published on the Erb Institute website, http://erb.umich.edu/Research/Student-Projects.htm. Currently I serve as the Co-President for the University of Michigan's Net Impact Undergraduate chapter. In this capacity I oversee and coordinate weekly meetings for the 20 member board. In 2007 I was awarded the William J. Branstrom Freshman Prize (given to the top 5% of freshman class at the University of Michigan). In 2007 I also was awarded a Dare to Dream Grant Recipient from the University of Michigan Zell Lurie Institute for Entrepreneurial Studies for business idea exploration and received a monetary award for advancing in the 2008 Michigan Business Challenge. I was one of roughly 30 students invited to attend the 2008 Sustainable Energy Fellowship at Duke University. |
