| Introduction | I'm at NC State's Summer Ethnographic Field School in Guatemala, May 14 until mid July. For most of it, I will be staying with a Spanish- and Kaqchikal-speaking Mayan family in Santa Catarina Palopo, a small community east of Panajachel on Lake Atitlan. I'm mostly by myself -- Dr Wallace says he wants to have class "as little as possible," meaning maybe three times a week during the beginning and a whenever-you-need to by the end. No other anthropology students will be staying in Santa Catarina. |
