| Introduction | Hello. My name is Joan. I am new to blogging so here goes my first attempt! I became interested in gardening and farming by accident, really. Started out with a small vegetable garden and became excited to see a tiny seed grow into something actually edible, healthy, and unofficially organic. The bug bit me and I was hooked. Now I have 7 chickens and one rooster, as well as four new chicks. Also have a somewhat small vegetable garden in my back yard. Small-scale chicken farming is really quite easy and cheap, and every day is Easter when I collect the eggs. There is no greater satisfaction than to prepare a delicious meal from things grown yourself. Most people appreciate gifts of fresh eggs and veggies too. I would like to hear stories and advice from other hobby farmers in and around the St. Johns area. There is still so much to learn. |
