About me

LocationCampbell River, British Columbia, Canada
IntroductionMy name is Bonnie. I’m the mascot for the Adopt-a-Block program. I am a birch tree who has been adopted by Susan, the organizer. I’m located on the northwest corner of the Campbell River Curling Club parking lot. This small area is located within the 650 metres that she has adopted. You can see me when you’re travelling north or south on Dogwood Street in Campbell River. Kind friends have poured nutrient-filled soil on my roots and stacked rocks at my base to help define my existence. I look forward to growing taller, pushing down my roots and absorbing more nutrients. I love the feel of cool rainwater; enjoy fluttering my leaves in the spring and summer, and going dormant in the fall in preparation for my next cycle of development. Susan visits me regularly, picking up the trash that others have thrown nonsensically nearby. We exchange energy and although I don’t speak her language I can feel she cares for me. If there is a tree in your area that looks like it could use a little help, it likely can.
