Introduction Jackie was elected to Richmond City Council in November 2002 and re-elected in November 2003. She was appointed as the Vice President of City Council. Jackie served as the Chair of Public Safety and as a member of the Health & Education Committees. She also was elected to serve on the Richmond City School Board from 2000-2002. Jackie was elected as Regional Director of the National Black Caucus of Local Elected Officials (NBC-LEO) to represent region 3 which includes VA, WV, KY, DE, DC, and MD. While representing the region, Jackie founded a local Virginia Chapter of NBC-LEO. Jackie is a member of First Baptist Church of South Richmond and is a member of many professional and community organizations. She is a member of Henrico County Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. and a lifetime member of NAACP. The American Council of Young Political Leaders selected Jackie as a delegate, out of over 1000 applicants, to travel to India. She is also a 2002 Sorensen Political Institute Fellow and a 2004 Southern Women in Public Service “Pacesetter”.
