About me

IntroductionJosephine Pravato of Punta Gorda, Fla. and Huguenot, a loving homemaker who never missed Sunday mass, died Wednesday of a heart attack in Charlotte Regional Medical Center in Punta Gorda. She was 92. The former Josephine Sofo was born in Brooklyn and was a graduate of New Utrecht High School in the same borough. Mrs. Pravato was a devoted homemaker with the busy job of raising eight children. A religious woman, she attended Sacred Heart R.C. Church, Punta Gorda, every Sunday, and if unable to make it to mass, she would watch it on TV, according to her daughter, Angela Amoroso. She enjoyed playing cards, especially the game Kings in the Corner, with her family. She regularly played bingo and sometimes volunteered as the announcer who called the numbers. “To the world, she was one. But to us, she was the world,” her family said in a joint statement. Her husband of 43 years, Anthony, died in 1983. In addition to her son, Anthony, and daughter, Angela, she is survived by three sons, Freddy, Joseph and Louis; three daughters, Marie D’Amico, JoAnne DelliPaoli and Patty Oliva; 22 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren.
