About me

Occupation Writer
Location Rome, Italy
Introduction I write about two of Italy's great works of art: food and crime. I came to live in Rome in 2002, having lived previously in Tuscany for three years. I hold a master’s degree in English and have taught English at three American universities. I’ve also worked as a writer and publicist for nonprofit organizations specializing in education, politics, and the arts. I’ve always cooked—from childhood When I first came to Italy, I learned to make pasta by hand, and that experience led to cooking classes and a newspaper column about food back in the US. My interest in mysteries also began in childhood with a gift of the Bobbsey Twins when I had my tonsils out. I moved on to Nancy Drew, Trixie Belden, Cherry Ames, and with maturity, to Agatha Christie and more. I’m a member of Sisters in Crime and SinC Guppies.
