| Introduction | ADDT was co-founded by Alicia Díaz and Matthew Thornton in New York City in 2006. Their work draws from contemporary dance, movement-theater, martial arts, chi-gung, improvisation, and an interest in outdoor and site-specific projects. Agua Dulce has performed at The Jacob’s Pillow Inside/Out Series, Blue Curtain Music and Dance Summer Festival in Princeton, N.J., The New York Dance Parade, The Vissi Dance Theater Dance in America Series, Hathaway Brown School, Sneak Reviews in the Cleveland Public Theater, The Old Grand Rapids Public Museum and in El Museo de la Ciudad de Querétaro, Mexico. Díaz and Thornton have taught and choreographed for Kent State University, Hope College, Kansas State University, The International Dance Festival Danza’quí in Puerto Rico, Hathaway Brown School, and Shaker Heights High School in Ohio. Current ADDT collaborators include choreographer Steven Iannacone, percussionist Sebastián Guerrero, instrumentalist Bill Sallak, video artists Kim Su Theiler and Alexis Raskin, and sound designer Oliver Lyons. Díaz and Thornton are assistant professors of dance at The University of Richmond. |
