Introduction My goals are to bring science, skepticism, and critical thinking to Northern California...and the world! To that end, I maintain a blog, which discusses issues of interest to skeptics, peppered with some humanistic ideas about society in general. In addition to this, I work with the Chico Skeptics to bring critical thought to our community, and participate in the world wide skeptical movement by (hopefully) contributing a tiny bit to the collective conversation. I am a student, as are many other active skeptics. This is an important point to make in the interest of full disclosure: I am not an expert in the fields I discuss. I am currently pursuing degrees in biology and chemistry, and I have a background in journalism. This brings us to the most important point that we can make as skeptics: skepticism is a process, a way of learning and understanding. It is a method used by ordinary people to understand the increasingly complicated world of science and technology, and to evaluate the claims of philosophy and religion. Keep in mind, however, that the center of skeptical inquiry is the pursuit of knowledge. Understanding should always come before judgment.
