| Introduction | I grew up traveling around the world. My Dad was in the Air Force, so as a kid I lived in California, New Jersey, Greece, and the Republic of Panama. My parents divorced shortly after my dad was stationed in Florida, so my mom, my brother, and I stayed there. I consider Florida to be home, but at the same time Washington D.C. is home too. Both my parents are originally from D.C., and most of my extended family come from the D.C. area. I am a Christian, raised in the faith from a young age by my mom. Since graduating from FSU in 2007 with a BA in Spanish, I have worked as a nanny, a substitute teacher, and an education coordinator/ house parent at a maternity home for teens. I moved to Uganda in January 2010 to serve with a Christian organization called Mercy Uganda. |
