| Introduction | Raised Presbyterian but Lutheran-college educated, I was a missionary with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA)'s J-3 program. In April 2013, after six months of orientation, I began teaching English at a Lutheran school and working at a church in Kumamoto, where I was until the end of March 2015. |
