| Introduction | I'm a wife, a first time mom with a full time job and I've been baking for years...from a mix. Don't get me wrong, there's no shame in baking from a mix! My mother was an independent cake decorator back in the day, and every big, beautiful wedding cake she created was from a mix. Even one of my culinary heroes, Alton Brown, advocated using a cake mix in an episode of Good Eats!
I had a fleeting dream once of going to culinary school to become a pastry chef, but lacked the true ambition to move near one to enroll. So I did the next best thing and sought out to become semi-self-taught. I purchased the CIA text book and watched it collect dust for a few years (it is, after all, a big, heavy intimidating book). So here I am, embarking on my long awaited journey to become a better baker and to share my experience with the world in the process! |
| Interests | I'm actually a huge heavy metal fan...I drive a grocery getter with a Slayer decal on the back :-p I love to sing karaoke, knit and wish I could get back to scrapbooking more often! |
