About me

Introduction In 1997, at the age of 21, I was diagnosed with a degenerative nerve disorder that would become the turning point of my life. I was faced with a decision to dig deep and push on or give up and let my condition take over my life. 3 months in Marine boot camp would serve as my guide giving me the knowledge and strength to dig deep and lead me to where I am today. I live by three simple words that I learned as an 18 year old Marine recruit: IMPROVISE, ADAPT, AND OVERCOME In keeping with that, I have accomplished more in the past 9 years since my diagnosis than I did in the 21 before it. Upon my release from the Marine Corps in 1999, I received my bachelor’s degree from Penn State University in 2004. That same year I founded the Got the Nerve? Mini Triathlon that raises money and awareness for the Myelin Project, which is an organization that supports research for nerve damage related disorders like mine. In December of 2004, I created Corps Fitness, Inc. Viewing my disability as my stepping stone and not my crutch will hopefully redefine the way others view the challenges they face. Dig deep and you can accomplish anything. Stay motivated!! Chris
