Introduction	What I've been in my life is a modern dancer, a Pilates trainer, a mom, and a bit of a geek. (I get poly-syllabic when I'm angry.) What I haven't been in my life, not in a very very long time, is a runner. And I didn't really want to be a runner -- ever, now. But everyone in this family fell for Mielle a long time ago, and so it's been awful to see her have to battle this monster illness at such a young age. Suzy asked me to run, and to ask people to give money to CureJM, and that seemed like a reasonable enough thing to be able to do. I never suspected I would fall in love in the process (dancers think they'll only ever fall in love with dance -- it's entrenched). But fall I did, for it all -- the miles, the core-deep new friendships, the blessedly wry mama-wit (breathless raucous laughter at odd morning hours in breathtakingly beautiful places -- have I mentioned how spoiled we are here in the Bay Area?), the communality of striving for the next goal of miles or pace or... brunch. So thanks, Suzy -- and thanks Mielle. Mielle has changed a lot of lives here at mamajog. (Not bad for a seven-year-old.)
