| Introduction | I'm a single mom, by choice, with a near 16-year old daughter. It's not easy, but I never expected it would be, but on the flip side--it's the most rewarding and important job I could ever have and I'm so lucky that God has thought me worthy of this assignment. I'm now in financial services and spend my time helping families and individuals save for the future, provide for their families and realize their dreams. At the beginning of the recession when I found myself collecting unemployment, I decided to use my 2 spare bedrooms to generate extra income. This is when we decided to become a Homestay Host Family. For the most part, our experiences have been positive and a huge cultural learning experience, but we have had a few international students with less than desirable integrity and respect for others. It takes all kinds to make a world and we have invited some of those people into our home and into our family. |
