| Introduction | Derek Beggs was born in Falkirk, Scotland in 1969, and grew up in the small town of Dumfries. On leaving School, he studied for a year at Cumbria College of Art and Design before being awarded a place at the prestigious and world famous Glasgow School of Art. Following his education, he worked as an Art Director and Propmaker, bulding sets, props and doing special effects for film, television and photographers. The variety and range of his artistic styles is very broad, but he primarily works in conte, pastel and Oils in a range of techniques and styles from impressionist to expressionist, abstract to figurative. In short, his work, like the man himself is constantly evolving, constantly changing and whilst it may be difficult to group all of his pictures in a single category, they all, without exception have his style and influence as clearly written on them as his signature in their corners. |
