| Interests | My husband and I have had the pleasure of each other’s company since 1981. We have had a hand in raising a blended family of 3 children. I've worked in the medical field most of my life, retiring as an RN many years ago. I was fortunate enough, all of my life, to sit at the knee of my grandfather (William Richard Rollins Sr) and listen to him enthusiastically tell stories about our family. He would carefully explain which cousin was married to which cousin, and what the significant of XYZ name was as it traveled through generations.. When he began working with Family Tree Maker, one of the first versions, his persistence to tell our story heightened. Upon his death in 1999 I inherited the boxes of information he'd collected over the years which includes files of photos, death as well as birth certificates, Family Tree Maker discs, copies of letters he wrote and received from cousins, friends, and family as he persisted in getting information about our family. In September of 2021 we met our cousin Virginia Ruth Kentzel Stinger for dinner in Oregon, CA. She brought a few family photos with her and had questions. I'd heard the names she asked about but didn't know answers for certain. I knew it was time to open the boxes I'd inherited from my grandfather. I begin to search for answers to her questions. I did find my cousins answers and so much more, plus I am now bitten by the bug call genealogy. I am excited to present here, on Wiki Tree and on Ancestry. I'm committed to do the best job I can of documenting the sources he so carefully preserved and left to me. I'm thrilled to connect the dots he was unable to connect, and to see our tree grow. He would be proud. I know I am eternally grateful for the effort, excitement, and desire he put forth to get our family history documented using what he had at hand during his time. |
