Introduction | One of my high school teachers wrote in my yearbook that I was a "thinker" and that really does sum it up. I want to know more about most things, and their meanings. In my mind, I can solve all kinds of problems but rarely have the opportunity to try them out. Guess I should think more practically. |
Interests | Jesus the Christ, History, God's hand in History, America, The world news, politics, well-written fiction, Revolutionary War, Civil War, American History, Black History, our failing schools and looking for answers, research, listenable music. |
Favorite Movies | Don't go to many movies anymore. Most are far too vulgar or plotless. Made for TV movies: Winds of War, War and Remembrance. DVDs I've liked: Darling Buds of May, Inspector Lynley Series, Island at War, Hamish McBeth, BBC/Masterpiece Theatre features and HBO's John Adams. |
Favorite Music | Early and preteen: Most popular music like Crosby, Sinatra, Stafford, Como, Bennett, etc. In my later teens, twenties: rhythmn and blues, rock and roll, anything with a good beat. There haven't been too many memorable songs since then. For me, they must have good lyrics and melody. I just rediscovered Abba's Fernando. Still love Rhapsody in Blue and at the Christmas season, I like Mary Did You Know. |
Favorite Books | I have read insatiably all my life. Now, however, I've become more discriminating. For pleasure I read mysteries. My Favorite Agathy Cristie character is Hercule Poirot. I certainly enjoyed McCall-Smith's Ladies Number One Detective Agency books. Not very impressed with his books set in Scotland. The Kite Runner was gripping and informative. |
