Introduction	Why and when I started running is a bit of a tale. Basically, I ran my first race at the age of 6. I beat a lot of 5th graders in the mile at a summer track meet. Fast forward about 6 years. At this point in my life, I was over weight and in horrible shape. My doctor told me that if I wanted any chance of controlling my asthma, I needed to get in better shape. So I started walking...and then running. That was about 15 years ago. It is sorta funny that I considered myself a "fitness runner" until after winning my first ultra. Now I run because it is a passion. I love pushing myself to the limit and seeing if I can push my limits farther. I love being fit. And I LOVE being out doors on the trails. I have run more races then I can count. But only 6 marathons and 3 ultras. The PR I am most proud of is my 18:05 5k last summer. I beat everyone at that race. Even the guys. In 2007, I placed 3erd overall at the SA marathon and 1st in Bexar county the year before that. But I am not proud of those times. Both of those races were on off days for me. The only advise I have is never give up. It is amazing what our bodies can accomplish if we train them properly and give them time.
