| Introduction | Jessica received her Masters in Elementary Ed. from the Graduate School of Education at Rutgers University in New Jersey. At Rutgers she was required to take a course titled Project Based Learning. She immediately felt she was born to teach this way! It seemed too good to be true when she first received a call from Mike Chalupa, asking her to interview for a position at City Neighbors Hamilton. She immediately knew she belonged at a school that is dedicated to Project Based Learning and arts integration. After a year at Hamilton, Jessica moved to Miami and taught at a Reggio Emilia inspired school that is part of the North American Reggio Emilia Alliance. There she learned a great deal about documentation and helped to pioneer the elementary program. She returned to Baltimore and City Neighbors this year with a heart bursting with joy and enthusiasm, a soul eager to connect with children, and a mind ready to exchange creative ideas with the City Neighbors community. She has had an amazing time so far, and is thankful for the wonderful teachers, mentors, children, and families of City Neighbors who make the school an incredible place to be and work. |
