Introduction	People frequently ask me, "Why ESL?" ESL is not what I initially thought it would be. What I didn't realize is how involved it would be, or how dependent the kids would be on me. I really get attached to these kids. I feel like their lifeline many times, which can be both really stressful and extremely rewarding. There's a comfort these kids feel in my classroom that is not like any other classroom they enter throughout the day. I never knew how much they would need me, not just to teach them the language they need to survive in the US, but to teach them so much more. It's many cultures, yet one single culture that culminates in my classroom.
