| Introduction | Painting has always been a constant thread in the tapestry of my life, bringing with it a calm, focus, and a beautiful place to create. When I hold a paintbrush in my hand, just like an author poised with a pen, I can create the script, narrative, mood, and lighting of my subject with paint as my chosen medium. In my quiet, colorful, painterly world, anything is possible with just the paintbrush swishing. My inspiration is floral still life. We are all familiar with it, whether fleeting spring blossoms in a garden, poppies warming us in early spring months, or a bunch of beautiful roses in a vase by a window with changing light transforming the colors throughout the day. I love to share these little special moments and observe magic on a larger scale through my floral paintings. Every flower has a gift to share. Peonies, the southern creamy magnolias of my youth in Georgia, and the swirls in the center of roses before they reveal their hearts as they open up, all of these sumptuous colorful options keep me hooked and sharing with my work with others. |
