Introduction | I am Emelin, I was born Mary. At least that is the name stated on my Original Birth Certificate. I am a Late Discovery Adoptee. What does that mean? I found out when I was 36 years old that my parents didn't actually give birth to me. You see the Birth Certificate I have says they did. I questioned how can that be? It's a government document. How can they falsify who gave birth to me. SO! Now what? This revelation has given me more food for thought than I think is really humanly possible to process without time or help. It hasn't been a fun trip. I'm grateful for the people I've met on this trip into myself. The wonderful "OM's" (Original Mothers) from the Search Triad that took me in as another lost adoptee. The other adoptees who helped me realise I wasn't alone in how I felt. With all the support/help from my friends I've been able to start climbing out of my shell. Traumatic. I was just barely functioning. It's been almost 4 years since I found out. I"m determined to see what I'm good at. So my new course of therapy Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. I'm in love. |
