Introduction	I am a new birder and have been seriously birding for about a year. As I have been learning the birding skill sets, I have been thinking about what new birders could do to improve in a sometimes intimidating hobby/sport/calling where you can be surrounded by experts on any trip. Don't worry, they were where you are once and you can be where they are one day. Just remember two important words- "Don't panic". I am an experienced biologist who has spent his career managing and protecting habitats for wildlife in Florida and was infected with birding in 2012. I have spent my time since then split between working, my masters degree, chasing birds, and kicking myself for not being a birder my whole career. But I have come to see the light or have have had the arc of my life irrevocably changed. Either way, I just need more good birds
