Introduction I lived in several states, the Virgin Islands, and Puerto Rico before moving to California where I reside with my family. Called the “blue collar” poet by classmates at the University of Central Florida due to my years in the Navy and later as an electrician on commercial and naval vessels before returning to college at the age of 37, I earned an MFA from Goddard College. I taught at Los Angeles area colleges for over 23 years. Nominated for two Pushcart Prizes and a Best of the Net, I was among the Top Ten Poets of L.A. in 2017 and in 2018 honored as on the ten poets to watch in L.A. My poems have appeared in numerous journals, both in print and online. I facilitate a writing workshop for 9 Bridges and perform with a musician who happens to have been a childhood neighbor in a project called “Notes and Letters.” My book A Former Life (Finishing Line Press) was honored by the Kops-Featherling International Book Award. I also won the 2019 San Gabriel Valley Chapbook Competition with Music Speaks, which recently medalled in the New York City Book Awards.
