Introduction | Solomonic Peacocks Theatre (SPT) is a Blantyre based local registered theatre NGO in Malawi established in December 1999. Uses theatre as vehicle to develop and support Arts Education, Community development and Eco Theatre so that we create sustainable and decent job opportunities for theatre practitioners and the youths. REACH AND IMPACT : We specialize in theatre based community interventions- delivering civic education which has reached out to 7 million people across Malawi to address vast social issues including GBV, AIDS/ HIV awareness and basic human rights. We have also established the Easter Theatre Festival which has attracted 7,000 people over the years; and has created various income generation opportunities for the local youth participants in Malawi. “Our overall aim is to create sustainable and decent jobs opportunities or Malawians using the preservation and celebration of our heritage through expressive art, as well as delivering civic education that is effectively received through theatre.” |
