Introduction I have always been an active girl; participating in a variety of sports from a young age. I was forced to give up my main hobby (hockey) this year (aged 25) when an increasing hip pain became unbearable. I was diagnosed with hip dysplasia which in babies is very common, but rare in adults. The reason being that every baby is tested for it prior to leaving hospital and it's easily treatable, compared to a whole different story when you're older. To know that I'd been born with this (temporary) life-changing condition and been none the wiser for 25 years was hard. To hear that I'm one of the unlucky few to be undetected as a child with no choice but to have major surgery because quality of life will only get worse, is very hard to take. You do have feelings of "Why me?" and "Life's unfair" as the reality is, this could've happened to anyone. The hospital and Docs don't give you much info because they don't want to scare you, so I read others' blogs which helped me incredibly. I hope my blog will do the same!
