InterestsThe Debaters' Council is an organization made up of past Debaters at School and University level in Sri Lanka. The Council was innaugurated in the year 2006 as a Society with an objective to push for a national level body for debating in Sri Lanka. However with changed objectives of one day becoming that national body, the Debaters' Council restructured itself in early 2009 as a Company Limited by Guarantee enjoying the membership of secondary and tertiary level institutions with an interest in Debating. The Council has, over its period of existence made a positive impact on the standards of debating within the country. It has selected the Sri Lanka schools Debating Team for the World Schools Debating Championships from 2007 to 2009. The Council also conducts free workshops and adjudication services for member schools.
