Introduction	Born in Portsmouth, Virginia to a father who made a career of the Navy and a mother from a farm in Maryland. I joined the Navy at the age of 19, and stayed in for 29 years. I loved it!!I retired in 1997 and made a home in San Diego, California, and started working in the civilian sector. But on June 11, 2008, my life took a sudden hit.. I was diagnosed with ALS.I was scared, upset, bewildered, and scared again. But I learned that I am lucky to have the wonderful family I have, and the support I get from them is truly awesome.
