Introduction Tim founded the Australian Classical Era Orchestra in November 2005. He is also Artistic Director of Salut! Baroque ensemble which he founded in 1995 with recorder player, Sally Melhuish. With Salut! Baroque, he has made seven CD recordings and enjoyed working with such international artists as Jaap ter Linden and Elizabeth Wallfisch.
Tim's fascination with 17th & 18th century historic (violoncello) performance and repertoire began in 1984 when graduated from the Sydney Conservatorium of Music. He explored this further with Jaap ter Linden at the Royal Conservatoire, The Hague, and in Rotterdam, The Netherlands. Since 1997, Tim has also specialised in performance on the basse de violon or bass violin and is sole exponent of this instrument in Australia. He has an active early music teaching studio and presents early music string workshops for the Australian Strings Association.
Tim plays a replica of a David Tecchler (Rome 1723) violincello, built by John Hall, Sydney, in 1983.
