| Introduction | ☕📚🍷 Hi! I’m Gabby — book lover, caffeine-powered human, and the unofficial CEO of “just one more chapter.” By day, I keep things organized and professional. By night? I’m curled up with a book, a cup of coffee, and occasionally a glass of wine (because balance). I’m taking on the Extreme Book Nerd challenge: 50 books in 50 weeks, each one from a different category. I’m not reading them in order — life’s too chaotic for that — but I am sharing every plot twist, opinion, and unexpected gem along the way. I love: 📚 Banned books ☕ Coffee that could wake the dead 🍷 Wine that pairs well with a good plot twist 📖 Finding the perfect book for the perfect moment. If you’re into honest reviews, weekly reads, cozy vibes, and a sprinkle of attitude… you’re in the right place. Grab your mug (or your wine glass), and let’s read our way through the year together! |
| Favorite movies | I’m a total 80’s movie kid at heart. Give me Pretty in Pink, anything by John Hughes, or what I consider GenX Classics: The Goonies (still quoting it) Labyrinth (David Bowie. Enough said.) E.T. (I still cry, don’t judge me) The NeverEnding Story (Artax deserved better 😭) And on the galaxy far, far away side of things… I’m a huge Star Wars fan — lifelong love for Princess Leia, and a soft spot for the most loyal little droid ever, R2-D2. If you hear beeps and whistles, it’s probably me quoting him. |
| Favorite music | My music taste is just like my movie taste: pure 80’s kid energy with a soundtrack shaped by the legends who came before. I grew up with my dad (RIP) playing 60’s and 70’s rock around the house — so yes, I will forever have love for Cat Stevens and The Beatles. That’s core memory stuff. Then came the 80’s: New Wave. Pop. Hair Bands. Basically, if it could play on MTV or was blasted from a boombox, it’s on my favorites list. And let’s not forget the 90’s era of R&B & Hip Hop, because I absolutely lived for that too. Even jumped on the Disco revival of the 90's (it's ok to judge me but there were some great tunes that came out of that genre). Some of my all-time faves? Michael Jackson, Prince, Madonna, New Edition, New Kids On The Block (yes, I’m a total Blockhead — still am 😌) Bon Jovi (“give it a shot” lives rent-free in my head) Depeche Mode (Watching Dave Gahan on stage just does something for me 😍) If your playlist looks like a GenX time capsule, we’re already besties. 🎶💖 |
| Favorite books | Well, we certainly can't have a book blog without sharing favorite books! 📖📚 I read all kinds of genres—from mildly spicy romance 🌶️ to autobiographies and memoirs. Right now, I’m a huge fan of The Pumpkin Spice Café along with the rest of the Dream Harbor series. Other favorites include Eleanor & Park by Rainbow Rowell, Ana of California by Andi Teran, The Chocolate War by Robert Cormier, The Storyteller by Dave Grohl (highly recommend the audiobook!), and Bad Mormon by Heather Gay (her story really resonates with me—and yes, keep an eye out for my own Mormon-experience blog coming soon). You’ll probably see some of these books pop up in my posts if they match any of the 50 categories. 📋 |
Which is more important to you and why: flexibility or expandability?
Flexibility for sure! Expansion is great… until it’s your waistline, your schedule, or your SHEIN wish list.
