| Introduction | My name is Lenitie Carter and I am 20 years old. I am taking this class as a core requirement for the University of Texas at Austin. The Ideology quiz suggests that I am a Post-Modern, an independent with a slight lean towards democrat. I agree. I don't really have any political influences because I am a pretty apolitical person. Subjects pertaining to Social Studies, like geography, history, and government, never really interested me, and I thought they were far too opinion-based. This reflected upon my Texas General Knowledge quiz score - I could only answer two of the questions. And being from New Orleans, Louisiana may also have something to do with that. I did do better on the Political Knowledge quiz (5 questions correct) however due to the Govt1 class I took just a month ago. By taking this class, I hope to learn information about Texas Government and Policies that I will actually retain for the next few years. I would also like to learn how to be a better Texan. As of right now, I don't have any political experience because I don't know enough about government, candidates, or current events enough to even vote. I hope taking this class can fix that. |
