Introduction My mission: to fill the bookshelves of pre-teens with books that celebrate our Catholic faith, modesty, the gift of life, and a wholesome childhood. I have a great love for Our Lady, St. Therese of Lisieux, St. Pio, St. John Bosco, and Venerable Fulton J. Sheen. Olivia and the Little Way, Olivia's Gift, and The Gate are all Catholic Press Association award winners, as well as recipients of the Catholic Writers Guild Seal of Approval, which evaluates books based on their faithfulness to Catholic Church teaching. The books are part of the curricula of Catholic school classrooms across the U.S., as well as an important part of CCD programs, Little Flowers and American Heritage Girls groups, Catholic book clubs, and home schools who value fun yet wholesome religious reading material for children that relates to modern-day children growing up in a secular world. I am a member of the Catholic Press Association and the Catholic Writers Guild. Feel free to e-mail me at: comments (at)harveyhousepublishing(dot)com.
Interests St. John Bosco once said: "Only God knows the good that can come about by reading one good Catholic book." Solid Catholic fiction for pre-teens and teens is my mission, so I started Harvey House Publishing in 2008 to fill a void in the area of Catholic children's books. Olivia and the Little Way and its sequel Olivia's Gift tell the story of Olivia, who moves to a new school and is eager to make friends. With the help of her Grandma Rosemary, her best friend becomes someone she has never seen--St. Therese, the Little Flower! I have a great devotion to the Little Flower and my hope is that kids aged 8-13 will too! Olivia's Gift is a pro-life story that celebrates faith and the gift of life. Also check out The Gate, where smart-aleck, 13-year-old Josh learns about the spiritual battle and what his vocation is as a Catholic youth. "The book itself (The Gate) is a great promoter of vocations because it doesn't fall into what I might call sentimentalism. Rather, it takes a real-life situation and places Christ right into it. It shows how priests are human, and called to conversion, and how God leads them." —Fr. Chris Pietraszko, priest of the Diocese of London, Ontario
Favorite Books St. Therese's autobiography, L'Histoire d'une Ame (The Story of a Soul) inspired me to write Olivia and the Little Way and Olivia's Gift in honor of Therese and her unending love for Jesus Christ.
