About me

GenderFemale
OccupationEnglish teacher
LocationFrance
IntroductionI graduated from university and decided to come and work in France as an assistante. I worked in a cafe over the summer (with people who had the patience of saints - I was possibly the worst waitress ever)to save up my busfare, got an assistante post in a town I'd never heard of, and the day before my 24th birthday I packed up all my belongings and waved goodbye to England as I boarded the bus. To cut a long story short, I met my husband during that year and ended up staying. I have had my two children here and these days seem to spend half my time cursing France and half my time thinking I'm really lucky to live here, of course with liberal feelings of homesickness for England mixed in. Getting used to being a wife and new mum in a different country can be daunting and sometimes I feel very far away from home. Obviously when we go back to England we seem to encounter people who make you feel like it's a blessing you left (for example the man with "Thuglife" tattooed across his belly who lets it all hang out...)so as a result I feel quite torn , quite a lot of the time.
InterestsArty/crafty things, people, wine
Favorite movies"Et si c'était vrai"....I don't know what it was called in English but it has got Reese Witherspoon in it. I only saw it a few days ago. Anyway, I have a crap memory, especially for films and will probably have changed my mind by this time next week.
Favorite musicStill love all the British music...sorry, but we do do it best. Anything from the Beatles to Pulp to Razorlight and the Kaiserchiefs. Also, I love bad pop music. My gay friend claims I have a music collection that would both thrill and put to shame any self-respecting gay man. So Macho by Sinitta? Bring it on!
Favorite booksI have so many, I couldn't even begin to list them. If pressed for an all-time favourite, nothing sends shivers down my spine like Romeo and Juliette by Shakespeare.

If your whole body were a hot air balloon, would you stop eating spicy food?

Of course not - it would be a very eco-friendly way to power myself around places!
