| Introduction | Since I live at the beach, I never cease to enjoy the spaciousness of sky when I gaze out over the water. But even with this daily gift, I still miss the majesty of the landscape of the plains. After beginning my first novel, Gentlemen Callers, in Greenwich Village where I lived at the time, I’d settled in California by the pub date. I published two more novels for adults, then fell into writing children’s books for the age group my sons encompassed—7 to 9. After publishing 26 Which Way Books under the name of R.G. Austin, I wrote and published more children's books before moving sideways into the adult market again with The Writer’s Guide to Crafting Stories for Children. My publisher (Writer’s Digest) liked this one so much that they asked me to write a version for adult fiction, The Art and Craft of Storytelling. At the moment, I'm working with two British authors to make their dreams come true. |
