| Introduction | My husband and I live in the cool, spectacular mountains of southern New Mexico, not far from the heat of White Sands. I love to paint, and if I haven't had a chance to paint today I am restless. I haven't settled on a subject area I like to paint so my choice of subject tends to be eclectic, although I've noticed a few extra flowers in the mix lately. |

When your science teacher smashed a frozen rose with a hammer, did you warm the petals to bring them back to life?
I didn't have science teachers until high school. Warming the petals would have not occurred to me. Now, I might want to see the cracks and the shape of the smashed petals.
