| Introduction | How does a woman born in Newport, Rhode Island end up speaking Italian?? Credo che fosse il mio destino. Many Italians ask if I have ever lived in Italy. I reply to them "non ancora..." Translation: Not yet. For four consecutive years I have spent hot and wonderful days during l'esodo di Ferragosto (the mid august holidays) on the island of Filicudi. I have loved every magical moment I experienced on this special island; located on the Mediterranean Sea. One of my Italian/Canadian friends nicknamed me "La Donna di Filicudi" since Filicudi was all I spoke about after returning from this beautiful island. At one time I thought I wanted to be bi-coastal for work but I realize that I do have a yearning to be bi-continental. Rome is my city of choice although my friendship pool has expanded to other cities like Milano. Tutto e` possibile. "La vita e' un viaggio non un arrivo." |
