| Introduction | Johann Merrich is an Italian-based musician. She started her musical experience in 2000 with the grind/indie/rock band Love in Elevator. Between 2000 and 2005 she recorded 2 albums playing the role of singer and front woman. In 2000 she also started her electronic life cofounding the electro-noise duo Hm?. Thanks to Hm?’s performances (2002 - 2006) she begun to develop the idea of an experimental and conceptual music. In 2008 she released her first solo album USSR Vs Paradise (in six movements) for the Italian netlabel Vuoto. One year after, in 2009, she recorded her second solo, Fricadelique! How to be a flower-power nihilist for the Russian netlabel Clinical Archives. In 2011 she performed twice for the 54esima Biennale di Venezia and she founded her own netlabel dedicated to women involved in electronic music (electronicgirls.org). Passionate connoisseur of history of electronic music in 2012 she publish her first book about women in electronic music (Pioniere della musica elettronica, Auditorium Edizioni). |
