My blogs
| Introduction | These are my views and by no means and views of NYMAC. Jan 2014 saw my weight peak at 20 stone, my body was giving me warning signs so decided to do something about it. I had lost weight twice previously but both times put the weight back on. This time I had to see it through. I first started going on long walks but these started taking too much time. I started the couch to 5k plan with not much hope of completing it as I have never been a runner. Each of the 24 sessions were hard work but I got through it, completing my 5k was a proud moment. I signed up for parkrun and after a few weeks of being too nervous to go, I went along to south parkrun, Darlington. I felt totally at ease and completed parkrun number 1 in a time of 28:08. 7 weeks later I was down to 26 mins and loving running! After entering my first 10k at tees pride I was hooked, I joined NYMAC a week later. Everyone at my first session was friendly and spoke to me at some stage, whilst I was just hoping I could keep up with them! No reason to be concerned as at NYMAC nobody is left behind. My parkrun PB is now 21:35 and I have since completed both the great north run and Redcar half marathon. |
