| Introduction | My name is Jackson and I'm 5 years old. This is my story told through the eyes of my Mama and Daddy. I was born December 1, 2005 a healthy baby boy. As I was getting my final check up before I could go home from the hospital, my doctor heard a heart murmer, and... long story short I was diagnosed with a double inlet left ventricle with a coarctation of the aorta and transposition of the great arteries. In english this means that the right ventricle in my heart did not form so I only have 3 chambers instead of 4. The next day I was flown to MUSC in Charleston, SC where I received the 1st of 3 open heart surgeries. In May 2006 I had my 2nd surgery. July 2, 2009, I completed all 3 surgeries. Yeeaahh!!! There is no cure for my problem, so the doctors have to "reroute the plumbing" in my heart so that it doesn't have to work as hard. The Lord has truly blessed me and my family and hopefully I will never have to face any more hospitals or surgeries. |
