| Introduction | Hi! My name is Jessica Pirkle. I'm 22 and from a small rural town of about 4,000 people called Comanche, Texas. Born and raised in a place where almost everyone opposes same sex marriage, voted for George W. Bush, and is a southern Baptist taught me how to fight what for I believe in! I consider myself to be a Liberal. I'm pro-choice, supportive of same sex marriage, not too involved in religious activities, favor environmental protection, oppose heavy use of military, and support Immigrants. I voted in the 2008 Presidential Election for Barack Obama! I'm taking US Government at Austin Community College, which the state requires, at the present moment. This blog is created as part of our class. Recently our professor asked us to take a civics quiz and a current events quiz online to test our knowledge. I have been out of school for more than 3 years so my results were interesting. I got a 60.1% on my civics quiz ,20 out of 33 correct, and for my current events I got 6 out of 11 correct, better than 48% of the public. I hope to get back into the educated part of America and be able to make reasonable arguments for my causes by taking this class. |
