| Introduction | I'm a writer and I've published a memoir book, "The Mee Street Chronicles: Straight Up Stories of a Black Woman's Life." I was born and raised in the Jim Crow south, came of age during the 1960's, so I remember the Panthers, the Black Arts Movement, Wounded Knee massacre, the assassinations of Medger Evers, the Kennedy brothers, Martin Luther King. I've done a lot of things to keep a roof over my head, including advertising copywriter, nonprofit community work, teaching college. Right now, I teach at Mt. St. Mary's College and Los Angeles Trade Tech.
