Introduction	It feels odd to tell people, when they ask you what you do, that you are a poet. It is of course not a proper profession, if by "proper" one means a job that brings in money. It is most certainly an occupation though. Reading, writing, going to poetry events make up a sizable percentage of my life.
Interests	Writing, reading, travel, Iyengar Yoga, a bit of light hiking, and trying out an occasional new recipe. These are the things that keep me going.
Favorite movies	There are so many. I just love going to movies, thinking about, and writing about them too. This past year I saw many fine films, including the Polish film Aftermath, the British film Philomena, the science fiction film Her, and the wonderful Twelve Years a Slave.
Favorite music	I enjoy Coltrane's ballads, traditional and folk music, etc., but I wouldn't say I spend a lot of time following music in general.
Favorite books	This is impossible to say. I read like I breathe, fairly indiscriminantly. Recommendations are welcome. I read modern and contemporary poetry and novels, particularly serious ones. I also enjoy quality children's literature and science fiction/fantasy. I have always had a stack of books and other reading matter, including cookbooks, on hand wherever I am, and that is one of the reasons my house is an awful mess.
