Introduction President and Chief Executive Officer California Healthcare Institute (CHI) David Gollaher, Ph.D. co-founded CHI in 1993. Earlier in his career, he was a senior executive at Scripps Clinic and Research Foundation. Previously he served on the faculties of Harvard University, University of California, San Diego, the Graduate School of Public Health at SDSU, and the Overseas School of Rome. He is an award-winning historian of science and medicine, the author of three books and numerous articles in the fields of health policy, the economics of biomedical research and development, bioethics and the history of medicine. Gollaher completed his undergraduate studies at the University of California and earned his master’s and Ph.D. degrees from Harvard University. He is also a co-founder of Vision Robotics Corporation and is named on five patents in autonomous robotic navigation. CHI represents more than 250 leading academic research, biotechnology, medical device and pharmaceutical organizations in California. CHI’s mission is to advance responsible public policies that foster medical innovation and promote scientific discovery.
